Baltic: Epstein investigations opened in Latvia, Lithuania

Authorities in Latvia and Lithuania have opened investigations into information in documents related to the convicted US sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein. The documents contain hundreds of references to Latvia and Lithuania, including indications that Epstein’s associates had recruited young women and children for sexual exploitation through local modelling agencies, LETA and LRT reported. Latvia’s State Police has begun investigating the materials for evidence of possible human trafficking, LSM reports. State Police chief Armands Ruks urged Epstein’s Latvian victims to contact the police, LETA reported. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office in Lithuania also has opened a pretrial investigation into possible human trafficking after reviewing the Epstein documents, BNS reported. Officials urged anyone with valuable information or potential victims to come forward. The released Epstein files reveal contacts with several prominent figures, including artists and models, in Lithuania, LRT reported.
