Baltic: flydubai opens flights from Riga, Vilnius to Dubai

UAE’s state-owned air carrier, flydubai, has opened regular flights from the Latvian and Lithuanian capitals, Riga and Vilnius, to Dubai, LETA and ELTA reported. The company will have three flights per week on both routes. Jeyhun Efendi, senior vice-president for commercial operations at flydubai, said that the airline planned to open flights to the Estonian capital, Tallinn, by winter 2026 as well, BNS reported. He said that the company hoped to increase the number of flights on the Riga-Dubai route to seven per week, possibly as early as in 2026. Lithuania’s Transport Minister, Juras Taminskas, said that flydubai planned to carry around 40,000 passengers on the Vilnius-Dubai route in the first year. Meanwhile, Efendi said that the company would divert flights from Vilnius to Riga if smuggler balloons from Belarus continued to disrupt operations at Vilnius International Airport.
