The chairmen of the foreign affairs committees of the Baltic parliaments — Marko Mihkelson from Estonia, Rihards Kols from Latvia, and Zygimantas Pavilionis from Lithuania — will pay a joint visit to Taiwan, ERR reports. They will meet with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, Legislative Yuan president You Si-kun, Prime Minister Chen Chien-jen, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, and Digital Affairs Minister Audrey Tang, as well as representatives of academic institutions, think tanks, and NGOs. The Baltic parliamentary committee chairmen stressed the need to strengthen commercial and economic ties with Taiwan, noting that the country had a strong democracy and a technologically advanced economy. They will also seek to expand cooperation in the fields of culture, education, research, and tourism.
