The foreign ministers of the eight Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) have signed a joint declaration in support of Ukraine’s membership of the EU and NATO, ERR reports. The ministers stated that Ukraine’s future was within the “Euro-Atlantic family.” The declaration said that it was time to use the “Baltic experience of the 1990s” in support of Ukraine in its path towards EU membership. The NB8 countries are ready to share their knowledge, expertise, and best practices with Ukraine, and EU integration will go hand in hand with Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, the foreign ministers said. Also, support for Ukraine’s security needs to be “steadfast, durable, and long-term,” the ministers stated. At the same time, Ukraine needs “credible and lasting frameworks” to ensure its path towards future NATO membership, the statement said.
