The speakers of the parliaments of the three Baltic States visited Canada and the US to discuss regional security issues and cooperation, BNS reported. They met with with the speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, Greg Fergus, and members of the Canada-Nordic-Baltic Parliamentary Friendship Group. In the US, the Baltic speakers met with the speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, the chairman of the Senate foreign relations committee, Benjamin Cardin, former speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, and other members of the US Congress. Lauri Hussar, speaker of the Estonian parliament, the Riigikogu, said that the meeting with Johnson focused mostly on support for Ukraine, ERR reported. Meanwhile, the chairs of the foreign affairs committees of the Baltic and Nordic parliaments are on a joint visit to the US as well, LSM reports. They will meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other UN officials, representatives of the US State Department, and members of the US Congress. Their meetings will focus on support for Ukraine, defence cooperation, and securing NATO’s eastern flank.
