Baltic: Poland ready to defend all three Baltic States: President Duda

Polish President Andrzej Duda assured that Poland was ready to defend every inch of NATO territory, including all three Baltic States, BNS reported. Speaking to visiting Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, Duda vowed that Lithuania could count on Poland. Lithuania’s chief of defence, General Valdemaras Rupsys, also noted that NATO planned for the use of Polish troops to defend Lithuania. Earlier, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte suggested that Polish legislation could prevent Polish troops from defending Lithuania. Nauseda said that Simonyte’s statement was a “misunderstanding,” and that Duda had assured that Poland had no such legal restrictions. Nauseda said that Lithuania was ready to strengthen its strategic partnership with Poland, BNS reported.
