The presidents of the three Baltic States met in the Latvian capital, Riga, on 4 December 2025 for their annual pre-Christmas meeting, LSM and BNS reported. Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics said that key issues discussed included defence and security, border protection, and support for Ukraine. He emphasised that “if you look at the map, the Baltic States are still one defence region.” Estonian President Alar Karis highlighted regional security cooperation in responding to Russia’s airspace violations, acts of sabotage, GPS jamming, and shadow fleet operations. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called also for more regional coordination in responding to airspace and maritime violations and in harmonising border protection procedures. He underlined the need to accelerate building the Baltic Defence Line. The three presidents stressed that any possible decision on dismantling railway lines with Russia and Belarus would be taken jointly, LETA reported.
