Estonia: Bomb explosion injures one at Tallinn shopping centre

Police in Estonia have detained a man suspected of planting a bomb that injured one person at the Ülemiste Keskus shopping centre next to Tallinn Airport on 20 December 2025, ERR reports. State prosecutor general Astrid Asi said that the 60-year-old man is a stateless resident of Tallinn with previous criminal convictions. She said that the motive for the act appeared to be personal revenge. DELFI later reported that the man, Artur Boiko, has been convicted of large-scale hacking and of threatening to murder a judge, ERR reports. The homemade bomb exploded in a trash bin outside a Rimi supermarket, injuring one employee, ERR reported. Margo Palloson, director general of the Estonian Internal Security Service (KAPO), said that there was no indication that the isolated incident was related to terrorism, extremism, or a foreign state. Nevertheless, police have increased presence in crowded places.
