Estonia: Call for consultant on nuclear plant project

Estonia’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications has announced a procurement tender for a consultant to plan a 600-MW nuclear power plant in the country, ERR reports. Under the contract, the winning bidder will help compile baseline planning guidelines and an environmental impact assessment plan for the project. The consultant will provide advice on site selection, evaluate potential impacts, and prepare the first phase of the special plan for the nuclear plant. The deadline for bids is 8 January 2026. The Estonian government initiated a national special plan for the nuclear plant project in May 2025 at the request of privately-owned Fermi Energia. The plant would consist of two small modular reactors, CEO Kalev Kallemets told ERR. The company expects the plant to be operational in 2035.
