Estonia: Government approves action plan on LGBT equal opportunities

Estonia’s Minister of Economy and Industry, Erkki Keldo, has approved a national action plan to broaden equal opportunities and protections for LGBTIQ people, ERR reports. The plan sets goals to ensure that everyone in Estonia has equal opportunity to live a full, supported, and inclusive life, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics. Estonia should be “a great place for LGBTIQ people to live,” the action plan states. The focus will be on equal access to education, legal reforms, health care, and employment. The government will monitor progress across a set of indicators. Moreover, Estonia’s foreign policy will work against sexual and gender discrimination and violence.
