Estonia: Number of serious cyber incidents rose in summer 2023

The number of serious cyber incidents recorded in Estonia stood at almost 75 per week in the beginning of June 2023, which was up from around 40 incidents in the beginning of 2023, Tõnu Tammer, cyber incident manager at the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA), said, ERR reports. RIA’s experts have identified around a dozen new phishing pages each day through summer 2023. The number of victims of cyber attacks has increased by around 50%. Telecommunications operator Elisa registered over 600,000 attacks in June 2023 alone, while TELE2 has blocked millions of malware attacks and over 100,000 phishing scams so far in 2023.
