Over 60% of Estonia’s population is prepared to defend the country, according to a poll conducted by Eesti Uuringukeskus for the Ministry of Defence, ERR reports. The survey shows that 81% support armed resistance in case of an attack. Support for military service is very high at 87%, for reserve forces at 86%, for NATO membership at 80%, and for the presence of allied troops at 79%. Trust in national defence institutions remains high overall. At the same time, 39% of respondents consider a large-scale military attack against Estonia likely, which is up from 29% in 2023. Meanwhile, 86% see misinformation and 84% cyberattacks as the main security threats currently. Eesti Uuringukeskus polled 1,200 people aged 15-74 years in March-April 2024.
