Relations between Finland and Estonia are stronger than ever, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated, ERR reports. Speaking at a joint press conference with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas in Tallinn on 5 July 2023, Orpo noted that the two countries had strong cultural ties, and that their values and understanding of reality were very similar. The two prime ministers discussed European security, NATO, and energy issues. Orpo assured that Finland would continue to work towards increasing security and prosperity across the Baltic Sea region. Also, he said that Finland wanted to deepen bilateral cooperation with Estonia to support Ukraine. Meanwhile, Kallas noted that it meant a lot to Estonia that Finland “looked south in the same way that it looked north.”
