Estonia: US Congress increases missile sales cap for Estonia

The US Congress has approved an increase in the maximum number of HIMARS systems and related munitions that can be sold to Estonia, BNS reports. According to Vanguard Intel Group, the US has raised the sales cap from EUR 500mn to EUR 4.73bn. This would allow Estonia to buy an additional 12 HIMARS launchers, 200 ATACMS missiles, and 856 GMLRS missiles. Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur said that Estonia wanted to buy additional HIMARS systems, ATACMS and PrSM missiles, and a C-RAM detection and defence system, ERR reported. Meanwhile, Tuuli Duneton, undersecretary for defence policy at the Estonian Ministry of Defence, noted that a sales authorisation did not automatically imply a decision to purchase.
