Nearly a half (48.2%) of Latvians felt in good or very good health in 2025, which was up from 35.1% in 2005, according to the Central Statistical Bureau (CSP), LSM reports. The survey data showed that 43.7% of Latvian residents aged 16 years and older rated their health as good and 4.5% as very good. Another 36.8% said that their health was average. Meanwhile, 15.0% of residents rated their health as poor or very poor in 2025, compared to 21.6% in 2005. As for the gender health gap, 53.7% of men and 44.0% of women rated their health status as good or very good, while 17.2% of women and 12.2% of men said that their health was bad or very bad. Among age groups, 88.2% of those aged 16-24 years rated their health as good or very good, while 48.3% of residents aged 50-64 years assessed their health as average. Of those aged 65 years or older, 51.9% rated their health as average and 33.8% as poor or very poor.
