Parties in Latvia’s Riga City Council are still at odds with each other, acting mayor Vilnis Kirsis (New Unity) admitted, LETA reports. Following a meeting between New Unity and the combined faction of Movement For and the Progressives (PP), Kirsis said that “the spirit of compromise and cooperation had yet to be born on a political level.” The meeting discussed organising the city council’s work in the period of transition. Earlier, New Unity formed a new coalition with the National Alliance, the Latvian Association of Regions (LRA), and Code for Riga, which have refused to take part in the talks with PP, however. All parties have said that they are not interested in snap elections.
