Latvia: Shortage of diphtheria, tetanus vaccines reported

Latvia is again short of diphtheria and tetanus vaccines, LSM reports. The Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) has refused to supply new vaccine doses to family doctors, given that the vaccine manufacturer is having temporary production problems. Vaccines for children will be available in the middle of July 2023 and for adults at the end of August 2023. Latvia registered a diphtheria case for the first time in several years in 2023. Between 2009 and 2019, altogether 119 cases of diphtheria were registered in the country.
