Latvia’s total volume of passenger traffic by all modes of transport increased in the first half of 2023, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau, LSM reports. The number of passengers carried by land transport totalled 93.1mn, which was 22.9% more than a year earlier. Regular bus traffic carried altogether 52mn passengers, which was up 20.3% over a year. The number of trolleybus passengers amounted to 19.3mn (up 42.5%) and tramway passengers to 13.6mn (up 12%). Rail passengers totalled 8.2mn, which was up 19.5% over a year. Latvian ports served 171,600 ferry passengers in six months, which was 3.5% more than a year earlier.
