The number of unemployed people in Latvia totalled 60,600 in the second quarter of 2023, which was 2,200 fewer than in the same period of 2022, according to the Central Statistical Bureau, LSM reports. Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the number of unemployed rose by 800. Latvia’s unemployment rate stood at 6.4%, which was down 0.2 percentage points over a year. The number of long-term unemployed totalled 17,900, which was 2,400 less than a year earlier. The youth unemployment rate stood at 9.6%, which was down 5.2 percentage points over a year. The number of inactive people totalled 430,900, which was 31.2% of the working-age population.
