Lithuania’s Competition Council has again postponed a deadline for the Estonian media group, Ekspress Grupp, to sell off the Lithuanian news website, lrytas.lt, to new owners, BNS reports. The council gave Ekspress Grupp until 7 January 2026 to sell the website. In February 2025, the competition authority ordered the group to sell one of its two Lithuanian news portals, delfi.lt or lrytas.lt. The council determined that the two websites held together more than 40% of the market. Meanwhile, a court has temporarily suspended the Competition Council’s decision to require that Ekspress Grupp sell lrytas.lt back to its former owner, Lietuvos Rytas, pending a final ruling on whether the council acted lawfully in blocking the deal.
