Employers in Lithuania are more favourable than before towards Lithuanian emigrants who are returning, according to a survey of 512 companies and organisations by the Lithuanian Public Employment Service (UzT), LRT reports. The survey showed that 42% of companies in Lithuania suffer from a shortage of skilled labour. More than half of Lithuanian employers now agree that emigrants have gained valuable experience and skills abroad. A similar survey in 2021 showed that most employers then preferred workers who had studied in Lithuania. Currently, most former Lithuanian expatriates work in the manufacturing, trade, construction, and transport sectors. Most returnees are coming back to Lithuania from the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Norway.
