Lithuania: First group of Bucha children arrive in Palanga resort

The first group of children from the Ukrainian town of Bucha, a scene of Russian war crimes, has arrived in Lithuania’s seaside resort of Palanga for summer vacation, The Baltic Times reports. Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte and Palanga mayor Sarunas Vaitkus welcomed the children and their accompanying adults. Simonyte wished the children "warm memories, smiling people, and a peaceful sky where no missiles fly." The Palanga municipality has arranged for around 100 Bucha children who lost parents during the war and children from large families and socially vulnerable groups to visit the Baltic Sea resort town in summer 2023.
