Lithuania: Foreign Minister urges to focus on own security, not Russia

The West must take care of its own security instead of worrying about Russia’s future, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis stated, BNS reported. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Landsbergis pointed to “increasingly louder concerns” about Russia’s future in the West. He insisted that Russia has to solve its own problems, and that the West has to focus on strengthening its own security and ensuring victory in the war in Ukraine. The West must move from supporting Ukraine “for as long as it takes” to doing so “[with] whatever it takes,” Landsbergis argued, LRT reported. He called for “new instruments” to deter Russia, pointing out that the EU still applies trade regimes that favour autocratic regimes.
