Lithuania: Foreign Minister warns against mistakes on Russia policy

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis expressed deep concerns about the West’s approach to Russian aggression against Ukraine, Euromaidan Press reported. In a Twitter thread, he warned against repeating historical mistakes and called for immediate action, urging the international community not to wait for a “Pearl Harbor effect.” Landsbergis criticised the 25-year attempt to contain Russian imperialism through “dialogue and diplomacy,” emphasising the need for decisive measures. He noted that Russia’s imperialist ambitions extended beyond Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova, and that delaying action would result in higher human and economic costs. He urged addressing the issue as a present-day problem so as to avoid catastrophic consequences.
