Lithuania: Former owner of Snoras bank detained in France

Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov, former owner of Lithuania’s collapsed Snoras bank, has been detained in France under a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Lithuanian Prosecutor General’s Office, BNS reports. Antonov was detained in Baden on 9 December 2025. Prosecutor General Nida Grunskiene said that work was underway to have him extradited to Lithuania. She had no information on the whereabouts of Antonov’s Lithuanian business partner, Raimondas Baranauskas, former CEO of Snoras bank. A court in Vilnius sentenced Antonov and Baranauskas to 10.5 years in prison in November 2024 for embezzling over EUR 500mn of bank assets. The two men had by then fled to Russia, where they were granted asylum.
