Israeli President Isaac Herzog has postponed his planned visit to Lithuania amid further tensions in the Middle East, Asta Skaisgiryte, chief foreign policy adviser to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, announced, BNS reports. Speaking in an interview with Ziniu Radijas, Skaisgiryte said that Lithuania wanted the situation in the Middle East to “calm down a bit,” which would “provide a better backdrop” for the visit. She said that no specific date had been set for the visit. Herzog’s visit was initially planned for June 2024 but was later postponed to autumn 2024. He had planned to visit all three Baltic States. The last Israeli president to visit Lithuania was Shimon Peres in 2013.
