Lithuania: Parliament designates Iran’s IRGC as terrorist organisation

The Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, has passed a resolution designating Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, BNS reports. The Seimas is the first national parliament in the EU to declare IRGC a terrorist group. The resolution calls on the EU to add the IRGC to the union’s list of terrorist organisations and to impose more sanctions against Iran for its increasing military support for Russia in the war against Ukraine. Also, the Seimas condemned Iran and Russia for their support for terrorist organisations and systematic taking of hostages. The resolution highlighted the systematic repression and human rights violations by the Iranian government. Meanwhile, the Vilnius Choral Synagogue hosted an event to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the attack by the Palestinian terrorist organisation, Hamas, against Israel, BNS reported. Also, the Seimas hosted an exhibition and a screening of a documentary film about the attack.
