Resolving the current crisis in Ukraine’s relations with the US requires “cool heads and wisdom” rather than “very loud and sharp statements,” Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas stated, BNS reports. He was commenting on an earlier angry exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House. “I suggest not to declare war on the US for the time being,” Paluckas quipped, noting that “the internet has already gone on some strange crusade and is calling for protests.” He said that “the Baltic States know how to communicate with the US and will help as much as they can to resolve this unpleasant situation.” Meanwhile, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda warned against “provoking Russia” over gas transit shipments to the Kaliningrad region, BNS reported. He suggested extending the gas transit agreement with Russia, saying that “creating artificial crises in this situation would only provoke conflict and escalate the crisis.”
