Six parties cleared the electoral threshold in the first round of elections to the Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, on 13 October 2024, LRT reports. The first round saw altogether 70 MPs elected through party lists, including 18 for the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (LSDP), 17 for Homeland Union, 14 for the Dawn of Nemunas, 8 for the Union of Democrats for Lithuania (DSVL), 7 for the Lithuanian Liberal Movement (LLS), and 6 for the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVZS). Another 71 members of the 141-seat parliament are elected in single-member constituencies. Altogether 8 candidates managed to win outright in single-member constituencies in the first round, including two from LSDP, two from the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (LLRA), one each from Homeland Union, Dawn of Nemunas, and LLS, and one independent candidate. The remaining 63 MPs will be elected in run-off races between two leading candidates in each constituency on 27 October 2024.
