Lithuania: ECHR grants damages to Saudi held at secret CIA prison

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has awarded EUR 100,000 in compensation to Saudi Arabian national Mustafa Al-Hawsawi for his unlawful detention at a secret CIA prison in Lithuania in 2005-2006, BNS reports. Lithuania: Nearly 200 people claim asylum so far in 2023

Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT) has received 194 asylum applications so far in 2023, BNS reports. Among them were 40 Iraqis, 34 Belarusians, 18 Afghans, 17 Russians, and 13 Syrians.
