The president of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, has presented her list of candidates for EU commissioners, ERR reports. Estonia’s former prime minister, Kaja Kallas, was named as candidate for EU’s foreign policy chief earlier. If confirmed by the European Parliament, she will be one of six EC vice-presidents. Meanwhile, von der Leyen named Latvia’s Valdis Dombrovskis as candidate to continue as the EU commissioner for economy but not as one of the EC vice-presidents, LSM reported. Lithuania’s former prime minister, MEP Andrius Kubilius, was named candidate for a new post as the EU commissioner for defence and space, LRT reported. All commissioner candidates still have to pass a vote of confidence in the European Parliament.
