Latvia’s foreign trade turnover totalled EUR 17.93bn in the first five months of 2023, which was down EUR 718.4mn (3.9%) from the same period of 2022, according to provisional data from the Central Statistical Bureau, LSM reports. Exports totalled EUR 8.12bn, which was down EUR 281.2mn (3.3%) over a year. Imports totalled EUR 9.81bn, which was EUR 437.2mn (4.3%) less than a year earlier. In May 2023 alone, Latvia’s foreign trade turnover amounted to EUR 3.53bn at current prices, which was down 14.9% over a year. Exports dropped by 15.1% and imports by 14.8%. Latvia’s main export markets in May 2023 were Lithuania (18.9%), Estonia (11.9%), Germany (7.2%), and Sweden (6.5%), while the main import partners were Lithuania (19.6%), Germany (10.7%), Poland (10%), and Estonia (9.2%).
