Estonian political parties received more than EUR 4.9mn in private donations in 2023, according to data from the Political Parties Financing Surveillance Committee (ERJK), ERR reported. The total does not include donations made to the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE) in the fourth quarter of 2023, however. The opposition Fatherland (Isamaa) party received altogether EUR 1,074,034 from private donors, of which EUR 700,000 came from Parvel Pruunsild, key owner of Bigbank. The Estonian Reform Party received EUR 820,364 of donations, followed by Estonia 200 (E200) with EUR 815,517. The opposition conservative party, Parempoolsed, received EUR 712,929, followed by the Social Democratic Party (SDE) with EUR 702,489 and the Estonian Centre Party (Keskerakond) with EUR 280,968. EKRE received EUR 431,675 from private donors in the first three quarters of 2023. Most financing for Estonian political parties comes from the state budget.
