Latvia had a total of 62,200 people unemployed in July 2023, which was 4,100 less than a year earlier but 600 more than a month ago, according to the Central Statistical Bureau’s labour force survey, LSM reports. Latvia’s actual unemployment rate stood at 6.5% in July 2023, which was down 0.4 percentage points from a year earlier. Compared to June 2022, the actual unemployment rate remained unchanged. Unemployment among men stayed at 8.3% but rose by 0.1 percentage point to 4.7% among women. The number of unemployed men amounted to 39,800 and women to 22,400. Latvia’s registered unemployment rate was 5.6% in July 2023, which was down 0.4 percentage points over a year but up 0.1 percentage point over a month.
