Latvia: Thousands of foreign students at Latvian universities

Thousands of foreign students will continue or begin their studies at universities in Latvia in the academic year 2024/2025, LSM reports. In 2023/2024, Latvian universities had over 10,000 foreign students from more than 100 countries. At the University of Latvia (LU), foreigners account for 7% of all students at the university. The number of foreign applicants to study at LU was over 2,000 in 2024, which was 30% more than in 2023. Riga Stradins University (RSU) has just under 3,000 foreign students, which is 28% of the total number of students at the university. Riga Technical University (RTU) has nearly 5,000 foreign students.
