Baltic: Hotel stays up in Estonia, down in Latvia, Lithuania in Q1/2026

The number of nights spent in tourist accommodation increased in Estonia but decreased in Latvia and Lithuania in the first quarter of 2026, according to Eurostat data, LSM reports. The number of overnight stays in Lithuania totalled 2.05 million, which was down 12.9% from 1.78 million nights a year earlier. The decline was the biggest in the whole EU. The number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments in Estonia rose by 7.3% from almost 1.17 million to 1.25 million, while nights spent in Latvia totalled 779,000, which was down 3.0% from nearly 803,000 a year earlier. At the same time, overnight stays by foreign tourists were up 24.1% in Lithuania in the first quarter of 2026, which was the second-biggest increase in the EU. Meanwhile, overnight stays by foreign visitors were up 9.1% in Estonia but down 7.5% in Latvia.
