Russia may be planning provocations against the Baltic States or Poland to pressure NATO countries into stopping support for Ukraine, Fox News reports. Latvian intelligence said that there were “indications” that Russia was preparing “military provocations” against the Baltic States or Poland. Russia could launch hybrid attacks using missiles, drones, or other actions, but the attacks would still be well short of a full-scale invasion, the intelligence official stated. Lithuania’s Ministry of Interior also warned that Russia may be planning “malicious actions or provocations” against facilities in the Baltic States, Lietuvos Rytas reported. Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovic said that additional measures had therefore been taken to strengthen the protection of key critical infrastructure facilities in Lithuania. A “senior political source” from another NATO member state said that there was intelligence that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “planning something against the Baltic States,” The Guardian reported. The actions would test US support for the Baltic States, the source said.
