A court in Estonia has found two Moldovan nationals guilty of an arson attack against a Ukrainian restaurant in Tallinn in January 2025, ERR reports. The two men were arrested in Italy in February 2025. One of the defendants told prosecutors that he was tasked by persons connected to Russian military intelligence (GRU) to firebomb a supermarket in the village of Osula in Võrumaa county and the Slava Ukraina restaurant in Tallinn. The two men were paid in cryptocurrency. Russia has been preparing attacks in the Baltic States targeting monuments, people, and property since February 2023, State Prosecutor Triinu Olev-Aas said. The aim of the attacks was to polarise and divide society and to sow fear and distrust, she explained.
