Four political groups in Latvia have signed an agreement on tasks and working principles for a new coalition government, LETA reports. The new coalition would consist of the opposition United List and National Alliance as well as current coalition partners New Unity and the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS). United List’s Andris Kulbergs would head the government, and each group would have four ministers. The coalition would have a majority in the parliament, the Saeima, and would rule until parliamentary elections in October 2026. The coalition’s first priority would be national security, including strengthening border security, air defence, and internal security. Moreover, the coalition would emphasise financial stabilisation and fiscal discipline and work on economic development and reducing the cost of living.
