Latvia’s National Alliance party, which is part of the current coalition government, has been embroiled in controversy due to accusations of racist messaging, LSM reports. First, a woman claimed that she was sexually assaulted by people of Indian or Pakistani origin, after which National Alliance representatives, including Interior Minister Janis Dombrava and Riga deputy mayor Edvards Ratnieks, commented on the case before police established that there had, in fact, been no such attack. Also, after an Indian national living in Latvia lambasted a village parade in which some participants made fun of migrants working as food delivery couriers, National Alliance’s Riga city councillor, Liana Langa, shared an AI-generated video depicting boxer Kristaps Zutis whipping delivery drivers and punching the Indian commentator in the face. Latvia’s State Security Service has opened an investigation into the AI video, LSM reports.
