Lithuania: Government asks ICC to investigate crimes in Belarus

The Lithuanian government has asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate crimes against humanity committed by the Belarusian regime, LRT reports. The alleged crimes include forced deportations, persecution of opposition supporters, and other instances of cruel treatment, the Ministry of Justice stated. The ministry examined evidence provided by the Belarusian opposition and other sources. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya insisted that the crimes of the Belarusian regime must not go unpunished. She noted that about 300,000 Belarusians, or every 30th resident of Belarus, have been forced to flee the country, including over 60,000 to Lithuania.
