Lithuania: Government may change conditions of offshore wind farm project

The Lithuanian government may change the terms of a tender for the right to build a second 700 MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas announced, Baltic News Network reports. Speaking in an interview with Ziniu Radijas, Vaiciunas said that the Energy Ministry was looking for solutions to ensure the continuation of the project. However, he stressed that the project could not be carried out “at a price that would be a burden for consumers.” The first auction for the project failed in April 2024 due to lack of participants, after which the Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, simplified the conditions. A new auction was then announced on 18 November 2024, BNS reported.
