Baltic: Estonian, Lithuanian leaders eclipse Latvian leaders in Western media

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda were by far the most visible Baltic political leaders in Western media in 2025, according to a survey by Estonia’s Government Office, The Baltic Sentinel reports. The survey looked at mentions of Baltic presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and defence ministers in US, British, German, and French media. Tsahkna was mentioned 12,528 times and Nauseda 12,082 times. Estonia’s Defence Minister, Hanno Pevkur, came in third with 7,607 mentions. The survey showed that Latvia’s political leaders attracted much less interest than Estonian and Lithuanian leaders. This was despite the prominence that Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics enjoyed when he served as foreign minister before his presidency.
