Latvians and Lithuanians work longer hours than Estonians, according to Eurostat data, LSM reports. The average working hours for employed persons in both Latvia and Lithuania stood at 38.3 hours per week in 2024, compared to just 36.5 hours in Estonia. The EU average was 36.0 hours. For employees, average working hours were 38.6 hours in both Latvia and Lithuania and 36.7 hours in Estonia. The EU average was 35.3 hours. The average working hours for male employees stood at 39.2 hours in Lithuania, 39.0 hours in Latvia, and 37.6 hours in Estonia. For female employees, the average working hours were 38.2 hours in Latvia, 38.1 hours in Lithuania, and 35.8 hours in Estonia. Employees worked more than self-employed people in all three Baltic States: 2.5 hours more in Lithuania, 2.3 hours in Latvia, and 1.9 hours in Estonia.
