Lithuania: Presidents most popular public figures: poll

Lithuania’s most popular public figure is former president Valdas Adamkus, according to Baltijos Tyrimai’s poll for ELTA in late July 2026, DELFI reports. Approval for Adamkus stood at 80% and disapproval at just 11%. Former president Dalia Grybauskaite was second with 59% approval and 32% disapproval, followed by incumbent President Gitanas Nauseda with 52% approval and 39% disapproval. Media entrepreneur Andrius Tapinas was fourth with an approval of 47% and disapproval of 39%, followed by MEP Virginijus Sinkevicius, leader of the Union of Democrats for Lithuania (DSVL), with 45% approval and 29% disapproval.

Furthermore, other public figures in Lithuania with a positive approval rating included MEP Aurelijus Veryga, leader of the Lithuanian Union of Farmers and Greens (LVZS), with 45% approval and 42% disapproval, journalist Edmundas Jakilaitis with 44% approval and 38% disapproval, Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys with 43% approval and 39% disapproval, MP Valius Azuolas with 42% approval and 28% disapproval, MP Vytautas Sinica, leader of the National Alliance with 41% approval and 26% disapproval, and Health Minister Linas Kukuraitis with 41% approval and 27% disapproval, according to the poll data.

Politicians with the highest disapproval ratings are Vytautas Landsbergis, Lithuania’s first head of state after the restoration of independence, with 63% disapproval and 26% approval, former prime minister Ingrida Simonyte of the Homeland Union (TS-LKD) with 61% disapproval and 30% approval, MP Remigijus Zemaitaitis, leader of the Dawn of Nemunas (PPNA), with 52% disapproval and 35% approval, MP Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen, leader of the Lithuanian Liberal Movement (LLS), with 52% disapproval and 38% approval, and Juozas Olekas, speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, with 51% disapproval and 35% approval.

Despite her high disapproval rating, TS-LKD’s Simonyte remains the most popular candidate for prime minister, according to Spinter Tyrimai’s poll for DELFI in July 2026. The survey showed that 13.7% of preferred Simonyte as prime minister, which was down slightly from 14% in the previous poll in June 2026. PPNA leader Zemaitaitis came in second with 7.3% (4.2%) support, followed by current Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius, leader of the ruling Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), with 6.7% (5.6%), LLS leader Cmilyte-Nielsen with 6.4% (5.4%), and Kaunas mayor Visvaldas Matijosaitis with 4.7% (3.4%) support.
