Lithuania will propose that the three Baltic States build a joint power plant to ensure flexible electricity production and energy security, Lithuanian Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas announced, BNS reports. Speaking on LRT, the minister suggested that the power plant could run on gas. He did not elaborate on the possible technology and location of the proposed plant, however. Lithuania’s new government plans to begin talks with Latvia and Estonia on attracting investors in power plants that would generate electricity during calm weather or lack of sunlight. Earlier, Baltic energy officials discussed the creation of a Baltic Energy Centre to integrate renewable energy production from onshore and offshore sources, LSM reported.
