Lithuanians tend to work the least in the entire EU during weekends, according to Eurostat data, LSM reports. The share of all employed people aged 15-64 years who usually work on weekends was just 3.9% in Lithuania in 2025. By comparison, the share of employed people usually doing weekend shifts was 13.1% in Estonia and 17.4% in Latvia. The EU average was 21.3%. Among employees, only 3.0% worked on weekends in Lithuania, which was the lowest share in the EU. The share was 12.5% in Estonia and 16.5% in Latvia. The EU average was 18.5%. For self-employed people without employees, the share of those who worked on weekends was 9.7% in Lithuania, 18.9% in Estonia, and 26.8% in Latvia. Meanwhile, 15.4% of employers in Lithuania, 15.6% in Estonia, and 16.2% in Latvia usually worked on weekends.
