Baltic: Presidents refute Russian disinformation on drones

The presidents of the Baltic States strongly condemned airspace violations by drones flying in from Russia and Belarus, ERR reported. In a joint statement, the three presidents rejected Russia’s disinformation campaign and threats related to the drone incursions, saying that Russia was trying to undermine Ukraine’s right to defend itself against Russian aggression. They reiterated that the Baltic States have never allowed their territories or airspace to be used for drone attacks against targets in Russia. The presidents urged NATO to transform its Baltic air-policing mission into an air-defence mission with anti-drone capabilities, LSM reported. Meanwhile, Estonia’s Foreign Ministry summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires to deliver a note of protest over the Russian disinformation campaign, ERR reported. Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze assured that Latvia’s allies were fully aware that Russia was spreading disinformation about the drone incidents, LSM reported. Ukraine has apologised for the accidental incursions, explaining that they were caused by Russian electronic interference.
