Estonia: Bolt turnover up, loss worsens in 2024

Estonian ride-hailing and courier service company Bolt generated a turnover of EUR 1.99bn in 2024, which was up 17% from EUR 1.7bn in 2023, ERR reported. Ride-hailing services accounted for 82% of total revenue. The company’s operating loss reduced to EUR 87.7mn from EUR 94.3mn in 2023. Bolt’s annual net loss amounted to EUR 102.6mn in 2024, increasing by 11.6% from a year earlier. The net loss was Bolt’s second-largest ever. The company had planned to be profitable by 2024 and go public in 2025, Postimees noted. Bolt now says that it is “focusing on preparatory steps” to ensure readiness for a stock market listing “when market conditions are favourable.” Bolt had more than 4,200 employees at the end of 2024, including 1,200 in Estonia. The company operates in over 600 cities in more than 50 countries and has more than 200 million customers and over 4.5 million ride-hailing and delivery partners.
