Estonia: Consumer prices up 3.7% in May 2026

Estonia’s consumer price index rose by 3.7% on year in May 2026, according to Statistics Estonia, ERR reported. Consumer prices of goods rose by 3.1% and services by 4.6%. The increase in prices was influenced the most by a 10.4% rise in transport costs and 5.4% rise in housing-related costs, both driven up by higher energy prices. Food and beverage prices rose by 0.9%. Compared to April 2026, consumer prices rose by 0.4%. Sulev Pert, economist at the Bank of Estonia, said that overall price growth remained moderate despite the rise in energy prices, BNS reported. Kristjan Pungas, economic analyst at the Ministry of Finance, noted also that inflation had remained relatively stable in recent months, BNS reported. Meanwhile, Raul Eamets, chief economist at Bigbank, pointed out that inflation had clearly begun to pick up momentum as fuel prices were rising due to the continuing crisis in the Middle East.
